Officers from the Baltimore County Police Department were called to the intersection of Painters Mill Road and Owings Choice Court in Owings Mills, where they found Reginald Haysbert in the roadway on Wednesday night, police say.

He was rushed to an area hospital and later died from his injuries.

According to police, Haysbert was struck by a dark-colored or black 2013-2015 Honda Accord that was driving south on Painters Mill Road when it struck him shortly after 11 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 6.

The driver then sped away from the area.

There has been an outpouring of support for Haysbert and his loved ones after the department confirmed that he had been killed by the hit-and-run driver.

Haysbert was remembered as a doting friend who would go out of his way to help those around him.

His daughter also penned a touching tribute on Facebook commemorating her father urging anyone with information about the hit-and-run to reach out to the Baltimore County Police.

The hit-and-run remains under investigation. Anyone with information regarding the crash or events leading up to it has been asked to contact the department by calling (410) 307-2020.
